Visa Lottery 2022: Results of U.S. Green Card Winners by Country
More than 13 million people around the world – applicants and their family members or “derivatives” – have attempted to immigrate legally to the United States under the better-known 2022 Diversity Immigrant Visa Program. under the name of visa lottery.
U.S. Department of State statistics released this week in the August 2021 Visa Bulletin show that during last year’s DV-2022 application period, the government recorded 7,336,302 qualified entries (13,191,296 with derivatives) for the lottery, which provides up to 55,000 permanent residents. visas, called green cards, every year.
The DV-2022 winners were selected through a computerized random draw distributed among six geographic regions “with a maximum of seven percent available to people born in one country.”
US officials said about 119,021 foreign nationals have been registered and notified, and therefore can already apply for an immigrant visa.

2022 Diversity Visa Lottery Results
Immigrant visas allow foreigners to live and work legally and permanently in the United States with lawful permanent residence.
Here are the 10 countries that have benefited the most from the DV-2022 program and the number of qualified applicants selected:

In the Americas region, natives of Venezuela and Cuba benefited the most from this year’s draw: 1,800 Venezuelan nationals were randomly selected for a possible green card, and 975 Cuban nationals.
Venezuela was the only country in South America to have exceeded the threshold of 1,000 DV-2022 numbers. In fact, there has been a 57% decrease in the number of applicants in South America and the Caribbean, compared to the DV-2021 program.
Recommendations for green card winners
If you have been selected in the DV-2022 program, you have the right to apply for an immigrant visa, but only during the government’s fiscal year – October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022.
In the August newsletter, officials recommended:
▪ During the visa interview, principal applicants must provide proof of a high school diploma or its equivalent, or show two years of work experience within the past five years.
▪ Those selected will need to promptly process their immigrant visa applications.
▪ Applicants must follow the instructions in their notification letter and must fully complete the requested information.
Visa 2023 lottery on the horizon
Applicants not selected in this year’s draw still have an opportunity for the DV-2023 program.
According to the visa bulletin, the registration period for DV-2023 “will be widely publicized in the coming months.”
