Spring semester scholarship applications are now available for Choctaw Nation tribal members.
The Choctaw Nation Higher Education Program can provide scholarship assistance to any member of the Choctaw Nation across the United States
Students must actively pursue a higher education degree at an accredited institution and must work towards a minimum of an associate’s degree.
The app is open to high school students concurrently enrolled in college, students taking post-secondary courses, and returning / renewing students.
Depending on the tribe, the award amounts are based on the GPA, classification, and enrollment status from the previous semester. The amount of the scholarship may vary from one semester to another.

For high school students enrolled simultaneously, tribe members will need a copy of their class schedule, high school transcript, college transcript, copy of card membership and signed and completed copies of the FERPA Release and W-9 Tax Form.
Students enrolled in a post-secondary school will need an up-to-date class schedule, high school and college transcripts, copy of membership card, student identification documents and a signed and completed FERPA release.
Tribal members who renew their application will need an up-to-date class schedule, college transcript, student ID, and signed and completed FERPA authorization form.
Once the application is submitted, the Higher Education Office will contact the applicant by email.
“Students must complete an online application every semester and provide the required documents to receive help,” the tribe said. “Applications will be processed in order of receipt. The processing time is 6 to 8 weeks from the filing of the request.
Award amounts are based on the previous semester’s cumulative grade point average, classification and enrollment status with varying amounts from semester to semester.
Students must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher to receive a scholarship.
The application period for the spring semester will end on March 1, 2022.
