In June, Prime Minister Narendra Modi granted Rs 21,000 crore to more than 10 crore farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM KISAN) scheme. This was the eleventh installment of the program and the next one will be released in August.

Under PM KISAN, a farming family is eligible for annual financial assistance of Rs 6,000 from the central government. The amount is paid in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each and transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
