The Union cabinet has given its approval to a draft electoral reform law. This would link a citizens’ Aadhaar card to their voter IDs. It was proposed by the Electoral Commission that citizens have 4 possibilities to register each year. Know all the steps to register and bind both Aadhaar and Voter ID here.

Citizens must be 18 years old to register on the electoral roll. For military voters, electoral legislation is seen as gender neutral. Citizens can associate their Aadhaar numbers with their voter IDs using the National Voter Service website, SMS, phone or by visiting booth level officers in their area.

Steps to register: link the Aadhaar card to the voter ID card

Citizens should first visit the voterportal.eci.gov.in website.

Citizens must log in to the portal using their cell phone number, email address. Use the password to enter the portal with the details mentioned above.

Citizens should enter state, district, and personal information such as name, date of birth, and father’s name.

You should keep in mind that the details entered correspond to government records.

Citizens should enter the Feed Aadhaar No option on the left side of the screen.

Also fill in the name according to Aadhar details and voter ID number.

Fill in the information and register successfully.

Link Aadhaar to the voter card:

Citizens should open the message on their registered cell phone number and text to 166 or 51969

One can also call the call center and request that Aadhaar be linked to the voter ID. People must dial 1950 and fill in their contact details between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Applicants can also share the completed application with full details with the office at the booth level closest to their location.

How to check if the Aadhaar card has been linked to the voter identification?

Citizens should visit the voterportal.eci.gov.in website.

The blanks must be filled in the section “Sowing via the NVSP portal”

The notification is displayed regarding the status of the request. It would be displayed when the binding process is complete.
