Arsenal's manager, Mikel Arteta, has revealed the intense pressure his team faced during their recent draw against Brentford. With Manchester City hot on their heels, just four points behind, the Gunners are in a tight spot at the top of the Premier League table.
Arteta, while accepting the result, highlighted the challenges posed by Brentford's unique style of play. He described the need to "pray" during certain moments, emphasizing the unpredictability and chaos that Brentford brings to the game.
"We had the lead and felt in control, but against Brentford, that's never enough. They create these moments of chaos, where a simple foul or a well-timed throw can turn the game on its head. It's like they have a sixth sense for these opportunities," Arteta explained.
The Arsenal boss went on to describe the specific defensive challenges his team faced. "They throw everything at you, and with so many bodies in the box, it's a real test of your defensive resolve. You have to be ready to fight for every ball, because if you don't, they'll punish you."
And punish they did, with Lewis Keane-Potter's equalizer coming from a long throw. Michael Kayode's delivery found Keane-Potter, who headed home from the back post.
"Every action has to be perfect against Brentford. They understand the game so well and know how to create chances. It's a real test of your concentration and ability to stay focused under pressure," Arteta added.
So, what do you think? Is Brentford's style of play a refreshing change or a frustrating challenge? Are Arsenal's defensive struggles a cause for concern, or just a blip in an otherwise impressive season? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
