A jaw-dropping catch on Delta Lake has left anglers buzzing! But this story is more than just a big fish tale.
Henadzi Kuzniatsou, an avid ice fisherman from Utica, had a slow day on the lake. After hours of patience, he'd only managed to land a couple of walleye and a yellow perch. Little did he know, his luck was about to change.
As the flag on his homemade tip-up popped, Kuzniatsou's heart must have skipped a beat. The line kept unspooling, a sure sign of a massive catch. And he was right - a 43-inch northern pike, weighing nearly 22 pounds, had taken the bait!
But here's where it gets interesting: Kuzniatsou, originally from Belarus, has seen bigger pike in his homeland. This giga-gator, as he calls it, was a beauty, but it didn't quite measure up to some of the monsters he's encountered before.
Despite its fame for being bony, this pike was more than enough to feed Kuzniatsou's entire family. His wife fried up their share in an iron skillet, and Kuzniatsou shared a handy tip: "The bones are easy to remove by hand in a fish that size."
