Applications open for MPD Teen Academy | News, Sports, Jobs


The Maui Police Department is accepting applications for its 6th Annual Teen Academy, which is designed to increase students’ understanding of a career in law enforcement.

Sessions will take place June 13-24 and July 11-22.

The free program is limited to 10-12 students, ages 14-18.

Students should be able to participate in a variety of physical activities without limitations.

A copy of the student’s latest report card with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 is required. Students will go through an application process, including an oral interview.

Topics covered in the sessions include crime scene investigation, physical training, police arrest and defense tactics, leadership skills, gun safety and CPR certification. Maui College at the University of Hawaii will present on higher education.
