InterVideo DVD Copy 4 Platinum (H.264 Edition) By Bart Koslow DVD Copy 4 rapidly copies non-copy protected movies to DVDs, IPods and PSP devices. The program comes with an installation CD and a 112 page manual. The main program window is clean and simple, and like most of the program disguises its underlying sophistication. The main screen has three icons at the top which let you select Copy DVD, Merge DVD or File to DVD. The program starts with the Copy DVD screen. An information screen on the left tells you to follows steps 1,2 and 3 which are clearly set forth in the center of the screen Step 1 – Source, Step 2 – Target, and Step 3 – Copy As. Your source and target may be any drive on your computer, DVD, Hard Drive or other. Copy As may be to a DVD, VCD, SVCD, WMV, DivX, DivX (Avi), Audio CD, MP3 or WMA. There is another box after Copy As to allow selection of 4.7GB, 4.85GB or 8.5GB (double layer recording) and a check box if you wish to fit your copy on one disc. Otherwise, depending upon the size of the source and the size of the target you may copy to more than one disc. Right below this is a Mode selection which permits you to select Entire Disc, Main Movie or Customize. Below that is a screen that shows you all the Titles and Chapters or tracks of your source movie with the duration of each and to the right a Properties icon. Selecting the properties icon for a title permits you to select the Audio and Subtitles to be copied. There is a preview window on the lower left of the main screen which allows you to preview any Title or Chapter before you record. Below this is a horizontal bar that shows how many target discs and how much of each target disc your recording will use. To the right of the bar is a Burn icon, which when selected begins the recording process. All of the above may sound complicated, but it is not when you view and use DVD Copy 4. In fact, it is probably the simplest appearing, easiest copy program I have used. This is especially true when you consider the depth and sophistication of the program. I particularly like the Customize feature. I have been able to keep the Menus, Main Movie and selected supplementary material, discarding what I do not want. You have complete flexibility to keep and discard exactly what you desire in the finished recording. You cannot do this in either Nero, or Easy Media Creator. Making copies is very fast, faster than any of its competitors that I have used. The Merge DVD Window permits you to merge titles from a number of DVDs and output as above in Copy DVD. The File to DVD Window permits you copy video files from your hard disk or from the Internet to a DVD and provides automatic menu creation and a video preview while transcoding. Notable is the ability to copy DVD in MP4, MP4 (AVC)(H.264) and 3GPP/3GPP2 formats to use on your IPod, Sony PSP, Nintendo Gameboy or 3G cell phone. DVD Copy 4 has an excellent manual which has step by step instructions for almost every operation of the program. This first-rate program is simple to use for neophytes and powerful enough for advanced users. It is highly recommended. DVD COPY 4 PLATINUM MAIN FEATURES (as stated by InterVideo) Convert

from a home recorder will be in the VR format. However, VR format normally
cannot be played back and is unable to be read on a DVD player. |
