Effective January 1, 2011:
Dues will remain $30 for the first member of a family / household. Additional family / household members age 16 or older will be $10 each. Every paid member and every paid family member is entitled to attend any of the meetings or workshops given by the Thousand Oaks Personal Computer Club or any Special Interest Group (SIG) meeting or workshop sponsored by the TOPCC. This includes the Photo Group, or any other SIG we may hold from time to time.
Non-paid Attendees:
If you are not a paid member or a paid family member, you are entitled to:
- Attend two general TOPCC meetings as a guest, free-of-charge. General meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of the month January through October, and the third Thursday in November. The third Thursday in December is our Family Night / Pot Luck and all family members of TOPCC members are welcome.
- Attend a general Photo Group meeting or a general Video Makers meeting, but pay $3 at the door.
- May not attend any workshops or other SIG meetings without becoming a member.
Why should I pay dues?
A guest once asked "why should I pay dues when I can come to the meetings for free and the newsletter is on the web site?"
We don't mind if you are a guest for one or two meetings, but if you find this club useful we would like you to become a member. The club wouldn't exist if we didn't have members.
Your dues pay for the meetings. It's true that most of the vendors will give their presentation for free, but there are other costs involved in putting on the meetings such as insurance. We also pay for web site space and our domain name (topcc.org). We print handouts, business cards, membership cards, and brochures.
Your dues also helped us purchase our own LCD projector and club computer for demonstrations. Part of the club computer was donations, and many people made extra donations for the LCD projector.
If you are a member, you get extra access on the web site. You will also be eligible to participate in special raffles we have now and then. You are entitled to attend any meetings, workshops, or SIGs given by the TOPCC. Since we are a non-profit organization, your dues are tax deductible.
Anything you donate to the TOPCC (such as computer components) is also tax deductible. If you wish to make a donation, please type up a description of the item you are donating so that the Treasurer can give you a proper receipt.
